A story of resilience, love, and unwavering commitment to community
In the 1940s, during Kenya's formative years of independence, Mikera, a God-fearing widow, walked miles through the rugged terrain of Mifwadhi Kanyamkago Village in Migori County with her children on her back.
Though illiterate and economically challenged, Mikera devoted her life to providing for her family and championing values around health, food and agriculture, sanitation, and sustainability.
Today, MIKEDA continues her mission by empowering vulnerable children, youth especially girls and young women to live healthy, dignified, and impactful lives.
